Results from NSDC 2011

Gauteng A defeated Kwa-Zulu Natal B in the senior finals to win the
National Schools’ Debating Championships 2011.

The Senior Motions:
1. THW ban private education.
2. THS parents rights to design babies.
3. THW ban polygamy in all forms of legally recognised marriage
4. THBT invasion of an individual’s privacy is legitimate during
journalistic investigation.
5. THW nationalise the mines.
6. THS mandatory minimum sentence for all jailable offences
Quarter Finals: THBT the constitutional court should not overturn laws
that are supported by a large majority of the population.
Semi Finals: THBT there should be no patents on esential drugs.
Final: THBT South Africa should enforce democracy in Swaziland.


Eastern Cape E defeated Gauteng F in the junior finals to win the National
Schools’ Debating Championships 2011.

The Junior Motions:
1. THW not spend money on computers in classrooms.
2. THW ban zoos.
3. THBT sportsmen earn too much.
4. THBT female prisoners should be allowed to keep their babies.
5. THW quit facebook.
6. THW re-institute corporal punishment in schools.
Semi Finals: THBT politicians should undergo regular lifestyle audits.
Final: THW legally require doctors to report suspected cases of
domestic abuse to the police.
